Physical Development ( Fine And Gross Motor Skills
Typical physical development (fine and gross motor skills) at this age Fine Motor skills: Kearns states in ( pg 186-170) that fine motor skills involve all functions involving the use of the wrist, palm of the hand and fingers. While children at this stage may appear to have endless energy, they can still tire easily, so a balance of rest and activity is still necessary. Some children in this stage may appear unsuitable attempting one skill, while appearing quite accomplished at other skills; for example, they may draw well but have poor ball skills. Gross Motor Skills: In the age of 6 years old, it becomes increasingly difficult to describe changes and differences in motor skills development. The following are assessed during this stage. 1. Running. This will become faster depending on the length of stride and tempo. 2. Jumping. The ability to jump higher will become greater due to body size, weight, age and strength. 3. Throwing. Boys begin to throw further with a better technique and accuracy. 4. Balancing and coordination. This increases as the child becomes older and control is perfected. These areas can benefit greatly from systematic instruction in motor skills, and physical education programs at school. The quality and type of environment a child is exposed to will influence the extent to which the child develops the motor skills learned in the first two stages of development. Furthermore a child s motor interests will be determined by his or her opportunities.Show MoreRelatedHuman Development: Gross and Fine Motor Skills1272 Words à |à 6 Pages Development begins in the womb. Religious Imagery in Mary Shelleys Frankenstein Essay Example For Students
Religious Imagery in Mary Shelleys Frankenstein Essay Heaven and Hell Religious Imagery in Mary Shellys Frankenstein Eric Best Mr. G. Taylor December 8, 2013 EN63UC In Mary Shellys Frankenstein, the frequent use of religious imagery effectively portrays specific positive and negative characteristics of Frankensteins family, The Monster, and the line of work that Frankenstein decides to pursue which ultimately leads to his demise. Shelly commonly refers to members of Frankensteins family as being heavenly and pure of heart. This is shown when Victor describes Elizabeth as a girl that had descended from heaven. He explains that none could behold her without looking on her as of a distinct species, a being heaven-sent, and a bearing celestial stamp in all her features (20). This quote emphasizes Frankensteins belief that Elizabeth is a perfect, beyond human girl by indicating that it appears as if she is heaven-sent to all people, not Just him. Another instance where religious imagery is used to describe a member of the family is when Henry Clerval speaks of Frankensteins mother as if she is an angel. Shortly after Williams death he says dear lovely child, he now sleeps ith his angel mother (57). Clerval indicates that he believed Victors mother to be pure such that she would be able to enter heaven. Victor also expresses his belief that William is deserving of the same heavenly fate as his mother. He says William, dear angel! This is thy funeral, this thy dirge! (59). William is clearly portrayed by Victor as another angelic part of the Frankenstein family. Religious imagery is used throughout the novel to show the innocent nature of the family. In doing this, Shelly shows how different from the rest of his family Victor is which helps define his The Monster is often described using hellish religious imagery from the moment of his creation to the foresight of his death. Shortly after The Monsters creation, Frankenstein expresses how no one less than a god would be able to endure the appearance of his monster. He explains that no mortal could support the horror of that countenance. A mummy again endued with animation could not be so hideous as that wretch (43). This quotation supports the idea that someone would have to be immortal or a god in order to bestow their eyes upon The Monster without immediately being disgusted and horrified. Another instance where religious imagery is used to show the wretchedness of The Monster is after he murders William. Frankenstein says it was the wretch, the filthy demon to whom had given life (59). Victor compares The Monster to a demon, an entity from Hell whose goal is to instill terror in the souls of mortals. The Monster also explains his suicide to be of the same hellish nature. He says that shall collect funeral pile and consume to ashes this miserable frame (197). By burning himself, he will quit the world in flames signifying his painful, dark Journey to Hell as where most mortals nfortunate enough to cross him would believe he is from. Depicting The Monster as a terrible being from the depths of Hell contributes to what he was intended to be, a relentless wretch which nothing can be described more terribly than. Frankensteins decision to begin his work on the creation of his monster is described with religious imagery on several occasions. Before The Monsters creation, Frankenstein thinks that his work will bring him glory and will make him appear as if he was a god. This can be seen when he says a new species would bless me as its reator and source (38). Victor refers to himself as a creator of life, where in Christianity God is referred to as the creator. This comparison puts Frankenstein above the rest of humanity because truly no one should have the knowledge of creation other than God, according to common belief during Frankensteins time. The outcome of Victors success is described negatively by using religious imagery. He describes his works as a hell of intense tortures such as no language can describe (72). .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9 , .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9 .postImageUrl , .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9 , .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9:hover , .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9:visited , .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9:active { border:0!important; } .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9:active , .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9 .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u65012f67ff69f924da22b79f896e63b9:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Rain Forest EssayIn saying that the torture that Frankenstein feels inside him is hellish oa point of indescribability, he effectively shows the pains that have been caused by his ultimate mistake. Religious imagery is also used to describe Frankensteins brief realization that he has responsibility as a creator of life. He says did I not as his maker owe him all the portion of happiness that it was in my power to bestow? (125). Victor realizes very late in his attempt to play God that he is in control over his subjects happiness and as a deistic figure it would be in good nature to provide happiness to The Monster. Frankensteins decision to create a being through nnatural methods is described using religious imagery because it shows how he made an attempt to do the same as God once did, and in doing so he brought misery upon himself. To conclude, the use of religious imagery throughout Frankenstein shows traits of the Frankenstein family, The Monster, and Victor himself in a polarized way because there is Heaven and Hell, no in between. Positive and negative characteristics are easily defined in this way which makes religious imagery an effective form of description in this novel. Shelly, Mary. Frankenstein. Impact Of Robtic Program Essays - Robotics, Robot, Fiction
Impact Of Robtic Program Essays - Robotics, Robot, Fiction Impact Of Robtic Program I saw the flier from Tech, and it was second week of school. I spotted out a robotic course at MIT. The program seemed tailored to my interest in math and science and to my competitive spirit. I couldnt resist the opportunity. When I asked some of my friends if they were willing to sign up for a course with me, most of them discouraged me by telling me it was too advanced for them or they did not have time for such a course. Finally one of my friends and I signed up. The first day was not the best day. My friend and I were the only two students from our school who had signed up for this course and other people in that class seemed to know much more about robotics than what we knew. We were all given identical kits containing Lego parts, a microscope, sensor, motors, batteries, and wire. Our task was to design a computer-controlled robot that would navigate around a game board. Before our project was initiated, we divided ourselves into groups and competed against each other. Sometimes we competed against other groups of students from other programs. My group faced many real world problems like the breaking of a wire at the last minute before a major the competition, or the robot refusing to follow the algorithm, which we had installed. I made my full share of mistakes, but by the end of the program, I had gained some real experience. Although our robot did not fare very well in the first couple of competitions, we came in second in our last competition. My learning process was underway, and I knew that I had found my place. Toward the end of the class my instructor asked me if I would like to come for the spring course as assistant instructor. The Experience I gained was worthwhile and an exhilarating affair while helping other in designing their Robots. I learned a lot from them while I was helping the spring group in designing their Robots. By then I knew I wanted robotics as my career. I planned to take classes in my senior year, which would help me in Robotics. I am taking course like AP computer science and AP physics, which will help me to get into Robotics. My intended major in college is Computer science, which is part of Robotics. I gained skills and experience when I had worked in-group and as an instructor, and those are the skills needed to work in an entrepreneurial business environment, which I have selected as my career objective. Pursuing Bachelor degree in Computer Science at the University of Boston will help me to get in Robotics my intended Graduate Major. I cant wait to get in to

Abortion is a medical procedure for any expecting mother to elect to have about her own body. The procedure can be performed up until the mother is in her second trimester. When a child is in the first trimester they weigh on average a 1/2 ounce and estimated to be 3 inches long (Just mommies, 2003-2012). During the first trimester the child also has a heartbeat that can be heard with ultrasonic devices. When a mother reached her second trimester the child is still growing developing more specific features. By the end of the second trimester the child will have developed all major organs (Just mommies, 2003-2012). Many people consider the abortion procedure to be immoral and wrong because it involves taking the life of an unborn child who has already developing in the womb. Over 7% of women just their reason for seeking an abortion because they were a victim of rape or incest and health concerns for the mother or baby (M, 2012). Many women who opt for this procedure may find themselves suffering from guilt or depression afterwards resulting in a life altering experience. For individual who donââ¬â¢t want to have children they have different types of birth control that can to prevent pregnancy. Birth control can come in a pill, patch, shot, surgical, internal, or abstinence. Birth control is not only for women but men as well. Men can use condoms to help protect them from getting women pregnant as well as protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases. Men can also have a vasectomy which can cause them not to be able to produce children at all. Women have a similar procedure but it is called a tubal litigation. This prevents the woman from producing an egg and being fertilized. Each form of birth control comes with some type of side effect and it is best that the individual chooses what is comfortable for them. The side effects can vary depending on the individual and how their body adapts to the medication. Some women like to look at abortion as a type of birth control. There are different types of abortion and also different types of birth control. With abortion the different methods are used at each different point in pregnancy and may be performed different each time also. There are the first trimester abortions which can be suction aspiration or dilation and curettage also known as Damp;C. the suction aspiration is the most common surgical methods that is used in the first trimester abortions, this is when the cervix is numbed and stretched open. It allows the abortionist to suck the babyââ¬â¢s body out with a knife like plastic tube. During the suction the lining of the uterus may be torn away. The Damp;C methods are somewhat similar to the suction. The instrument used for this procedure is called a curette (a loop shaped steel knife) which is used to scrape the wall of the uterus. During this procedure the baby and the uterus if cut up into pieces and then sucked out. An abortion can also be performed with a chemical implantation. Abortions can take place in each stage of pregnancy and is performed in different ways according to the size of the baby and what stage you are at in your pregnancy. For the second trimester there is a procedure that is used that is similar to the Damp;C and it is called the Damp;E or dilation and evacuation. With this procedure the woman is given some type of sedative and the abortionist is dilates the women and use instruments such as forceps to pull the baby to pieces. There is also a late second and third trimester abortions. During the late second and third trimester abortions the abortionist uses instillation techniques which is injects lethal chemicals into the amniotic fluid by an amniocentesis, intra cardiac injections which stop the unborn heart or hysterectomies which are identical to a cesarean section and is intended to harm the child. These are only a few of the abortion techniques that are used but more exists. Birth control and abortions can help with decision making when it comes to having or not having children. Some individuals look at abortions and are totally against it and other may use it as a form of birth control. Women start out as teenagers using birth control to prevent early pregnancy or pregnancy at all. Both of these methods come with side effects and it should be strictly the individualââ¬â¢s choice to use either one.
